Always eager for new explorations, PRISME is stopping off this year for the first time at the Atelier Dulcie September. Echoing the past of this iconic venue for creativity in Nantes – the former School of Fine Arts – and the spirit of this new edition, this evening will bear the print of the collective, experimentation and wandering.
To begin with, two visual treasures of ingenuity. One freshly made and resulting from our call for films, a rich ode to disorder, the other, a gem from the cult and much-missed filmmaker Ken Jacobs, takes us back to the premises of 3D.
Then it will be time for a collective wander from inside to outside, the secret of which Mire now holds. A light-hearted walk led by our mobile tools to bring to life some of Mire’s members’ creations. Night owl reveries and mushroom films; vegetable dye on 16 mm and herbaceous rayograms make up this programme, which will end with a hypnotic and photochemical blaze… enough to warm hearts at nightfall.
PROGRAM
INCHOATRACIES OR EVERYTHING IS AS IT GOES IN ANTEROGRADE, Zack Parrinella – Black Hole Collective Film Lab / Fotokem – US – 2024 – 16 mm – 2′
“An antagonizing balance between the existence and perception of things.”
Opening the Nineteenth Century : 1896, Ken Jacobs – US – 1990 – US – 16mm 3D – 9′
Based on some Lumière’s footage, most likely the very first tracking shots in cinema history, Ken Jacobs explores one of his favourite subjects, 3D, and more specifically the Pulfrich effect, named after the physicist who documented this psycho-optical phenomenon in the late 19th century.
“Shafting the screen: the projector beam maintains its angle as it meets the screen and keeps on going, introducing volume as well as light, just as the Paris, Cairo and Venice of a century ago happen to pass.”

Wandering with Mire, 16 mm walk avec Sébastien Ronceray, Carole Thibaud, Antoine Ledroit, Théo Fléchais, Marjorie Leberre, Aurélie Percevault & some more surprises- 1h
In the courtyard and surroundings of Dulcie September’s studio, walk together, explore the nooks and crannies of the city and reveal its many projection surfaces.
Fire Walk me Home Tonight, Élodie Ferré – Mire – FR – 2025 – 16 mm – 10’ – performance
In the deep night, the fire comes from afar.
